Beginning a new task can be challenging, whether it’s a minor action like incorporating a vitamin into your daily routine or a significant one like entering motherhood. Obtaining accurate information before embarking on your journey is always valuable. For new mothers, a beginner’s manual to swimming lessons for infants is available.

Advice from a Swim Mom

Hello, my name is Julia. I work as a Regional Manager at Njswim, which is a swim school that caters to people of all ages and skill levels. We start teaching children as young as three months old. I’ve spent eight years managing our swim school locations without being a parent, but I recently became a first-time parent and have been managing the schools for four months now. Additionally, I attend a Water Babies class with my daughter at Njswim Sparta every week. As someone who works in the aquatics industry, it was easy for me to decide to sign up for swimming lessons for my child. However, I want to assure other first-time mothers that it can be just as easy and stress-free for them, even if they are not experts in swimming. Here’s how:

Swimming Anxiety

It’s important not to let the anxiety of a new experience overwhelm you. Regardless of age, learning to swim can be enjoyable! Instead, concentrate on creating a positive experience for your child while they are in the water. This will not only benefit them but also make your entire family safer swimmers.

Safer Swimming Standards

Your infant can start learning basic swim skills as early as three months old, which can help them stay safer in and around water. When babies participate in classes, they can learn how to turn their backs, stay calm, and stay afloat. Despite what some people may say, taking your infant to a pool can be a good idea if you choose a clean facility with warm water. So don’t hesitate to jump in!

Bathing Suit Dilemma

It’s common to feel insecure about wearing a bathing suit, especially for new moms who have recently given birth. This is because pregnancy can have a significant impact on our bodies, and it takes time to adjust to these changes. However, it’s important to remember that you will be attending a class with other mothers who are likely feeling the same way. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing a bathing suit, you can always wear shorts and a T-shirt instead. We believe that whatever makes you feel comfortable is acceptable, and there are no judgments when you choose a facility that provides a family-friendly environment. As mothers ourselves, we understand what you’re going through.
